*Takes Sip* *Pauses* *SPIT-TAKE*

So this happened today.

I’m too excited to type (as if I’d been typing anything recently anyway).

Buy them. Buy twelve copies of each one. We’ve been given a second third fourth chance. Don’t waste it.

Very excited to see where this takes us.

If we get DC/CC revived, will you resume your side-by-side comparisons? :P

Haha, well, to say that I’ll “resume” them would be to imply that I’ve stopped working on them, and I just can’t bring myself to say that. I’m still making progress whenever time allows. I just haven’t reached the point where I can upload anything yet. The video game comparison wasn’t *that* long ago, was it?

      *checks date*

Ouch, February… That one ended up being pretty short, but it still took over a week to research / write everything (the game had a LOT of text to go through). Still working on episodes! If the Lupin crossovers somehow manage to receive dubs, you can bet I’ll bump those up to #1 on the priorities list (which means we would see comparisons for them as early as 2087!).

I can NOT believe that they’re actually releasing the Lupin crossovers. This is nuts! After so many years, we finally get some real news. They need to hurry up with a release date. I. Just. Can’t. Wait,

Just saw this. So is there any chance these will be dubbed in english or is it likely just a sub release? Also, is the hope that Discotek will pick up the series and run with it if these sell well? It’s pretty cool this is getting released in any event and I’ll definitely make sure to pick these up.

In all their years of licensing anime, Discotek has only produced one original dub (for the “Daisuke Jigen’s Gravestone” movie), and that’s only because it was 1.) very new, 2.) very high-profile, and 3.) very short. These will almost certainly be sub-only, which is perfectly fine with me. Discotek has already found success with Lupin, so this is likely a safe way of testing whether or not additional Conan material would be worth pursuing. With that in mind, wasting money to produce a dub would be impractical.

I don’t think anybody is expecting a TV series license rescue. Discotek doesn’t touch long TV shows. It would be unprecedented for them to pick up a show as long and unpopular as Conan with a complete, consistent release plan. I think, if these crossovers sell well, we can possibly expect to see additional movies at best. But that’s far better than what we have now.
